Intel has just released a new processor chip that is devoted to the cloud-based servers or cloud computing, the Xeon E5-2600.
As reported by IT pros, Wednesday (03/07/2012), one of the processor vendor's frontman seems to want to play a major role in targeting the trend of cloud. Intel looks set to take advantage of the booming cloud with Xeon server chips released this week.
The company launched its Xeon processor family of E5-2600 which provides 80 percent hinga performance and energy efficient than previous devices. Intel estimates that there will be 33 percent of data traffic growth until 2015, and the chip is able to handle heavy loads of server and workstation
Intel has sent a new device to the number of server manufacturers, including Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell, IBM, Oracle, and Cisco.
Meanwhile, the competitor AMD also said to increase its investment to acquire the company for USD334 million SeaMicro server, to reduce power consumption and improve the performance of cloud-based computing.
AMD is rumored to have lost their foothold in the server market, but with SeaMicro, can help expand into power-saving solutions to large data centers. However, Intel casually responded that the Xeon E5, the device will be able to improve the energy efficiency of more than 50 percent.
"We also see SeaMicro technology, there is the possibility of some people not to shop on a solution. We are not impressed after we acquired their competitors" said Diane Bryant, a spokesman for Intel.
