Google and Ford Working on Smart Car Technology

Google and Ford are working together to build software that can make a smart car. Such software will help predict the best route cars could save drivers time and energy.

InformationWeek proclaimed on Monday (04.09.2012), the software being developed will leverage cloud computing capabilities to analyze the history of the route, traffic conditions and driver.

Prediction tool used is the latest API Google output. Analysis of cloud-based service has a set of algorithms, with the ability to analyze business data and history can predict trends or future results.

The latest software will work after the driver got into a vehicle and choose to use their services. Furthermore, the system analyzes driving habits and knowledge of the route, and combine them with traffic information in real-time.

"By providing a vehicle usage history data on the system, there will be an analysis of driving habits. Through history can predict where users will go," said Systems Architect, Vehicle Controls Architecture and Algorithm Design Ford, Johannes Kristinsson.

"The driving factor behind this plan is the vehicle the ability to always find out. There are many reasons why this is considered useful. One is a list of goals in the system could be improved if the driver does not need to include clear or specific address," he added.
